This is one of the most impressive churches I have ever seen. Even though it was built between 1905-1907, it looks as if it was finished last year. Absolutely stunning Otto Wagner architecture that combines simplicity with religious elements. The golden elements, the white walls and religious figures that resemble mythical figures very much give you a fresh view on Christianity. Inside, every element you look at is in it's right place, every last bit was taken care of with the utmost attention to detail.
It is one of the only few churches I found around the world that actually feels like it's purpose was to take religion to the future and come closer to how people think nowadays.
Word cannot do it justice, you would have to check it out on your own.
The location is accessible by bus (Klinik Penzing Station), right in from of the entrance to the big hospital area. You will have to walk about 10 minutes to reach the church and you'll walk through a huge domain that hosts the Otto Wagner Hospital and the surrounding pavilions.
Definitely a must see!
Another Otto Wagner beauty. From the bus stop you meander your way through the Otto Wagner Spiral grounds, and your price awaits you at the top of the hill.
A beautiful church with breathtaking views over the whole of Vienna
Sitting between a lovely park and a quite hospital
Simply beautiful Jungendstil (Art Nouveau) Church. One should visit when you are in Vienna. Take the Bus #48A from Volkstheater station, no transfer, its going direct.
Really beautiful inside but they don't provide any information packs to learn what and why things are there. They do however, and so do I, recommend visiting the Wikipedia page. The Architecture section is especially brilliant if you want to learn more.
most beautiful!!!! when visited unfortunately the inside closed(possibble to visit only on weekends).outside are very clean and calm- only locals visiting- part of big hospital garden complex.well communicated what we see, when is it open, where to go.
Nice church in beautiful area
The first modernist church in the world, definitely worth visiting, especially inside. Very elegant white-gold interior with fantastic stained-glass windows. Highly recommended. Check the opening hours before you go.
